Damian Winterburn – Partner – dw@caplandre.com.au
In 2002 Damian commenced the development of a number of projects in South-East QLD and established a civil engineering and project management firm (Swaan Consulting) in Brisbane (now Wood & Grieve Engineers) . He was responsible for developing and managing over 30 projects ranging from Land Subdivisions, Townhomes, Apartments, Retirement Villages and Childcare Centres. Swaan Consulting grew to project manage over 100 projects in South East QLD for several of Queensland’s leading developers.
In 2005, Damian spent three years working with the Forrester Family in the United States in the acquisition and development of a number of projects in the residential and commercial sectors. While in the US, he also managed their consulting practice that worked closely with Macquarie Capital and assisted in the acquisition, due-diligence and management of over $150M* in commercial property transactions, as well as assisting Macquarie in reviewing over $1.4Billion in distressed real estate and mortgage opportunities. During this period, Damian was especially focused on the distressed real estate industry and includes speaking at national conferences and establishing a distressed asset platform for both real estate and commercial paper.
Damian holds a degree in Property Economics with a specialty in Development and Project Management from Queensland University of Technology. He has been an active member of a number of key boards and organizations including – UDIA, Urban Land Institute, Licensed Real Estate Agent in QLD, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, U.S. Green Building Council, National Association of Home Builders, National Investment Centre (Retirement), American Senior Housing Association, Property Council of Australia (PCA), Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia (IPA) and Turnaround Management Association (TMA).

Brett Robinson – Director – Real Estate Advisory – br@caplandre.com.au
In the latter half of his career, Brett held Senior Development Management positions within major development groups including Stockland Development Group, Reed Property Group and Devine Limited. Within these organisations he was involved in planning, approvals, construction and management of major land, apartment, mixed-use and retirement projects. Some of these projects included:
- ‘Sunshine Cove at Maroochydore’, an 8 Hectare major master planned community
- ‘Hideaway at Currumbin’, a 530 lot master planned community – end value of over $600M
- ‘River City’ Apartments in Brisbane, a 41 level mixed-use project – end value $72M
- ‘Casino Towers’ in Brisbane, a 39 level mixed-use project – end value $92M
- ‘River Place Apartments’ in Brisbane, a 34 level residential project – end value $125M
- 150 unit retirement village in Murrumba Downs – end value $50M
Brett holds a Bachelor of Business (Property Studies) from the University of Queensland and is an Associate member of the Australian Property Institute (AAPI) with Certified Practicing Valuer (CPV) and Certified Development Practitioner (CDP). He is also a Registered Valuer with the Valuers Registration Board of Queensland.

Daniela Hardwick – Manager – Real Estate Advisory – dh@caplandre.com.au
Over the past 12 years, Daniela specialised in the valuation of residential development projects. She is experienced in all aspects of property valuation of development sites and projects including townhouse, medium-rise, high-rise; small lot housing and residential land subdivisions.
Daniela is a Certified Practising Valuer (QLD and NSW) and was previously Director – Valuation Services of DTZ (Gold Coast) prior to joining CapLand. Daniela has held senior positions throughout her valuation career within Herron Todd White (Gold Coast) and DTZ (Gold Coast).
In addition, Daniela gained valuable “hands on” property development and project management experience with a Gold Coast development company from 2006 to 2008 where she was involved in site acquisition, planning, approvals, development and management of the group’s projects. With her extensive valuation experience combined with “hands on” property development and project management expertise, Daniela is able to provide comprehensive and sound advice to clients.
Daniela is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute (API), a Registered Valuer in QLD & NSW and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Valuation). She has been an active committee member of the API for over 10 years and the UDIA for the past 7 years.

Angie Croy – Manager – Real Estate Advisory – ac@caplandre.com.au
Angie started her career working for a number of small to medium sized private developers as their development manager, looking after projects from acquisition through to completion, including: Residential Medium and High Density Apartments, Mixed Use Precincts, Townhomes, Land Subdivisions, Shopping Centre Redevelopments, Retail precincts and Hotels/Resorts.
Prior to joining CapLand, Angie spent 4 years as a Development Manager working for ASX listed Thakral Holdings Group, one of the largest Hotel owners throughout Australia. Within this role Angie was responsible for the design, approvals and operational reviews of several major resorts and high rise mixed use projects primarily on the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.
Angie holds a holds a degree in Property from the University of Auckland. She has been an active member of a number of organizations including – Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), Australian Property Institute (API) and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Advisory & Project Management

Greg Smith – Development and Construction Manager – gs@caplandre.com.au
In addition Greg has had significant experience working directly with banks and financiers as their representative on high profile development projects. In these roles, Greg was responsible for protecting and monitoring the bank’s interests in the projects and has extensive experience in these following areas: verification of all project expenditure, acting as Contract Superintendent for civil and building works and coordination and management of project control meetings involving all stakeholders including the developer and the bank.
Some of the projects include:
- Project Manager on behalf of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) in relation to Noosa Springs Development (Stage 1 – $74M)
- Project Manager on behalf of National Australia Bank (NAB) and QM Properties for Pacific Habour Estate (1,650 Lot Master Planned Community)
Greg has built a broad experience in the property sector having worked on multi-disciplined developments, including major civil engineering projects with substantial environmental constraints, major structural projects, industrial, commercial, retail and residential works. He holds an open, unrestricted QLD Builders License and is certified in essential project feasibility and management software.

Jacques Winterburn– Senior Project Manager – jpw@caplandre.com.au
Jacques later progressed to become a Development Manager at FKP Ltd. He oversaw the design, government approvals and construction of several major residential and mixed use projects around QLD and interstate for the company.
Within Jacques roles as a Project Engineer and Development Manager, he has been involved with the appointment and daily management of numerous civil and building contractors on over 50 projects for the private and public sector. These projects have ranged in construction value between $2 Million up to $50 Million.
While at CapLand Jacques has been responsible for the delivery of multiple residential and commercial building projects on behalf of Financial Institutions, State Government and publicly listed mining companies, during which he has successfully delivered to meet high internal reporting standard, tight project timeframe and meeting sustainability performance.

Kym Jones – Senior Development Manager – kj@caplandre.com.au
Kym started her career as a Development Manager with Ross Neilson Properties, where she was responsible for two CBD office developments with an end value of over $27M. Kym later progressed to work as a Development Manager for Investa Property Group as well as a High Net Worth Brisbane property family. In these roles she has delivered projects in the retail, residential, office and industrial property areas. Her roles included working through acquisition, government approvals, funding requirements and oversight of construction.
For a portion of Kym’s career she worked in the property finance area for Suncorp. Her roles included analysing funding proposals, preparation of feasibilities and cash flows, risk identification and analysis, and market research for property development projects.
Kym holds a degree in Property Economics, as well as a Diploma of Applied Finance from QUT.

Michael Hoey – Senior Project Manager – mh@caplandre.com.au
Michael began his property career in 1994 with Westfield Shopping Centres after completing a Bachelor of Business. Later, Michal expanded his retail property skills working with Stockland and then Jones Lang LaSalle (‘JLL’). During this time, Michael was involved in the original expansion of the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, was the Retail Manager for Stockland’s then largest Retail Assets, Stockland Cairns and also the Retail Manager for Brisbane’s CBD MacArthur Central.
After working directly on a number of retail projects, as a Portfolio Manager for JLL, Michael joined Seymour Group as a Development Manager. Working for the Seymour Group for over 7 years, Michael was involved in all facets of the property cycle. This included the feasibilities and acquisition of numerous properties, adding value to assets through development, remixing and management cost controls and finally Asset Disposal.
Transactions

James Walsh – Director – Property Transactions – jw@caplandre.com.au
James started his career in property in 2002 working for a local Brisbane land development company, Navco Property Group. Initially responsible for development feasibilities and market research on several hundred potential projects in South-East QLD and Northern NSW, James later progressed to manage the company’s acquisitions and disposals team. In this role, he was responsible for the acquisition and disposal of 22 development properties in SE QLD.
James later became the Business Development Manager for Swaan Consulting – a civil engineering and project management firm in Brisbane. In this role he worked as a liaison between current and potential clients, developers, investors and landowners in project review, project management as well as the acquisition and disposal of assets.
In late 2005, James worked in the United States for 2.5 years as a property consultant in Florida and Tennessee specialising in development site acquisition and disposal. James worked primarily for the Forrester Family (founders of FKP Ltd) and also for Aria Property International (the private company of the founders of FKP Ltd) and also worked for several other groups that included public & private builders, developers, investment companies and private land owners.
Throughout James’ career, he has been directly involved in the sale of over $400M in development site transactions throughout QLD and the USA. He works hard to maximise the value for his clients in a professional and ethical manner.

Jeff Dolan – Director – Property Transactions – jd@caplandre.com.au
In 1988 Jeff was approached by the Lynch Group to establish a Commercial Property Development and Investment company, called Mantacove Group, which he ran until 1994.
In 1994 he purchased a 32,000-acre rural property at Mitchell in southwest Queensland. Through 1995 and 1996 he consulted to CMC Property Management where he sold and leased commercial and industrial property.
In January 1997 he was contracted to the Queensland Government – Project Services Sales Division of the Department of Public Works and Housing, where, for a period of nearly 2 years, he co-ordinated the marketing and disposal of surplus Government Properties on behalf of the Department of Housing.
In late1998 he rejoined the Commercial Real Estate Industry. Throughout his career he has sold, leased and marketed an extensive range of residential, commercial, industrial and rural properties.
His list of notable transactions demonstrates his talent to operate at the highest arena in real estate. His considerable experience, personal talent and track record clearly demonstrate what he brings to the table as a CapLand Director of Property Transactions.
